Success for ContiConnect 2.0 platform trial with G. Webb

News

When looking for a UK-based customer to trial its ContiConnect 2.0 platform, Continental found the perfect fit.

G.Webb is long-time beneficiary of the Continental Digital Solutions range.

Therefore, the company had practical knowledge and experience to support the system’s development.

Tyre pressure monitoring systems are fitted to the vast majority of G. Webb’s vehicles.

As a result, data from the trucks is gathered via a yard reader near the entrance of the site.

In addition, long-haul and overnight vehicles are connected remotely to base through the ContiConnect platform.

Paul Broker, fleet engineering director at G. Webb (pictured) said it made perfect sense for the company to trial ContiConnect 2.0.

“We’ve been a fan of the ContiConnect platform from the outset,” he said.

“It’s really helped us to keep tabs on the current tyre status of our trucks.

“In addition, it frequently helps us to minimise company-wide costs by giving us the information we need.”

Broker added tyre defects had been spotted before they escalated into a blowout or a breakdown.

Continuing, the fleet director said he was keen to benefit from ContiConnect 2.0 as soon as possible.

“The new portal is clearer and simpler to interpret, and the issues are more explicitly displayed,” he revealed.

“That’s great for us in a busy office.

“We’re able to extract the vital information that we need quickly and pass this through to the workshop.

“What seems like a simple improvement has a massively practical benefit to us.”

Meanwhile, Ian Jackson from Continental Digital Solutions worked with Broker on ContiConnect 2.0.

Now that successful testing of the platform is complete, the two companies are collaborating on future ContiConnect additions.

Specifically, plans include more data about tread depths and general rubber condition.

Concluding, Broker said: “It will make an already excellent product even more appealing.”
