On-highway national average diesel prices have dipped slightly after a steady increase.

National average diesel fuel prices were $3.16 per gallon as of March 29, 2021, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. While down $0.03 week-over-week, the rising trend we have seen since early November 2020 is continuing and is up $0.58 centers over same time last year.

Average national diesel prices have been on the rise since Nov. 2, 2020. However, prices are on par with early 2019 and are lower than prices seen in mid 2018.

All regions saw a decrease week-over-week but are up compared to prices one year prior. Current average diesel prices by region are:

  • East Coast: $3.13
  • Midwest: $3.10
  • Gulf Coast: $2.96
  • Rocky Mountains: $3.29
  • West Coast: $3.66
