Freezing rain caused numerous multiple-vehicle pileups in Oklahoma today.
A 15-vehicle chain-reaction collision occurred on Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City at about 7:30 a.m. A 25-vehicle collision occurred on I-40 in the city about
an hour later. In fact, there were so many mishaps that the Oklahoma City Police said it had to stop responding to non-injury accidents.
Also this morning, Oklahoma State Police report one person died in a multi-vehicle collision that closed Interstate 35 near Guthrie, which is north of Oklahoma City. That accident involved three passenger vehicles and four tractor-trailers, including a cattle truck, according to a local TV station.
Icy roads and accidents were also reported in Missouri and Kansas.
